Worship at the River Watchmen at the River
Newsletter of Pacific Ministries’ monthly meetings March, 2008
at Glenn Otto Community Park, Troutdale, Oregon.
Our God receives our prayer and prophetic proclamation; we are, in Him:
~ strong in the spiritual battle with spiritual generals,
~ sending the spiritual to the nations,
~ bringing nations to prayer,
~ changing the nations!
From humble surroundings in Troutdale, and a humble heart before the God of the Universe,
To the ex-mayor of Seoul, Korea, one who is respected and highly influential,
A voice of righteousness, sharing the love, truth and grace of our God,
A man of God, Darrell, is a man of obedience to the call of God;
we are a people of God and are also obedient to His call,
of deep, profound and powerful prayer.
We follow the Lord and watch expectantly,
for what He is doing among men and women, and children too!
Testimony of Healing
Delight (a beautiful name ever reminding us of our delight in Christ!)
- problem - a car accident that left severe neck problems; even with two pillows sleep has
been difficult and arm movement was impared.
- healing - There was specific prayer for Delight last month; God healed Delight’s neck
so completely that sleeping with pillows was not necessary and arm movement is greatly improved!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Stretching forth our hearts, hands, arms, voices and banners, in affirmations of faith ~
We want to be a thankful people, Lord. We worship you.
Sing to the Lord a new song; declare His glory.
Let us shout and glorify His Name.
Great is the Lord; you are worthy of all praise.
The Almighty declares, “I’m reigning above all nations.”
Prophetic word:
1. We’re moving into kingdom authority through gratitude.
2. There will be the healing of minds and bodies.
3. There will be greater laughter, unity and freedom to lift His Name high.
4. There will be joy, in the spiritual awakening of our nation.
5. Generations will be blessed ~ children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
6. One generation will declare to another that the Lord has done great things.
7. We are brothers and sisters in Christ; we are robed in righteousness and
perfecting grace of Christ, as His bride.
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!”
The banner over all of this is His love, cleansing love.
We are soaking in the Presence.
We receive from the Holy Spirit ~ the ministry of the Spirit,
through the wind of the banner, (which is love!)
The voice of His song ~ the instruments of His grace.
Prophetic word:
1. Take the tests and trials and turn them into joy.
2. All things will be made new.
3. There will be a softening, a whispering of His comfort.
“Come to me, all you who are weary.
Come to me, all you who are burdened.
I will give you rest; you are not mistakes.
You are not orphans anymore; sons and daughters you are.
There is a rest for sons and daughters; you do not have to strive anymore.
Understanding who we are in Christ ~ free sons and daughters,
we can leave the backpacks we carry, those that are filled with the unnecessary.
Jesus, lover of my soul, I will follow You.
The Lord wants to remove the lies and give us new names.
He wants to honor Himself in us and through us.
~ A sign for surrender ~ Our hands at the shoulders, with fingers bent,
move upward and opening, ~ to let everything fall into His hands.
We want to let go and rest in your loving arms.
In your light, we see light; in your arms, we find rest.
We will rest in your arms and be at rest.
Soaking ~ find a quiet place to be alone with the Lord ~ ask Him to be with you.
Listen to the things He shares; take time to soak in His Presence.
“ ‘See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to His temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,’ says the Lord Almighty. But who can endure the day of His coming? Who can stand when He appears? For He will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the Lord, as in days gone by, as in former years.”
Malachi 3:1-4
A banner of iridescence ~ a fire, refining silver and gold.
in the refining process, we will bring offerings of righteousness.
“ ‘But you who revere my Name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things.’ says the Lord Almighty.” Malachi 4:2,3
Releasing our hold on the name we have carried,
we receive the new name God pours over us, rejoicing in the joy of His blessing.
The Lord is blowing the Shofar over us ~
For the Spirit of Intercession.
Pressing into Scripture, releasing healing – (facing separation anxiety)
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us
from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38,39
Leading by example ~
Lay down the script, the plans prepared,
Trust the Lord for His Word for His people.
Trust Him for prophetic preaching.
Pray for each other as opportunities arise for ministry.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has appointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives,
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion,
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning.
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.”
Isaiah 61:1-4
Prophetic words over Darrell and Carlene:
1. You have divinely inspired influences; in the Spirit you are dancing on iniquity
2. You are magnets of strength together; a new door in a harvest basket of righteousness.
3. Jacob sent gifts ahead to Esau; Christ’s body in South Korea is Jacob and North Korea is Esau; Darrell and Carlene are a part of the Lord’s gift in the harvest basket.
“Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants. He put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children next and Rachel and Joseph in the rear. He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.” Genesis 33:1-4

Sometimes a song can express more in a few minutes than hours of teaching/preaching. Last month, I was sharing with a Korean congregation, and I felt impressed to "sing the message." I picked up the worship leader's guitar, and sang a new song...right out of scripture. (Psalms 133) The song was spontaneous and interpreted in Korean.

Dear Friends on the Journey...
Most of us would agree the "journey" is more important than the "destination". In our pilgrimage, Carlene and I have discovered treasures in the informal personal relationships of fellow pilgrims "on the way." Some of our paths have crossed briefly, others have had the luxury of more than a few hours. We celebrate the way the Holy Spirit is "knitting" our paths together....much like a beautiful pattern, a kind of divinely creative mosaic.
I love the story in Luke 24 of Jesus intersects two pilgrims on the way to Emmaus:
...beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself....When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
I sometimes wonder about how effective our Western-style, left brain teaching is really impacting others...whether our life methods are "opening eyes" or just adding more information.
I've always been more attracted to the lab rather than the theory. Last week I was at an alternative high school...my favorite environment because this is where Jesus would most likely recruit His disciples. The teacher I was substituting for had posted a sign in the class...and I took a picture of it:
As you can deduct, it is a chart depicting how we learn...really learn. Most of our educational systems are based on a Greek sermon-style or linear, and cognitive style of learning. Our "group attempts " (home church, Bible study, etc) are, at best, 50% effective. But, when we "see...do....teach... we encounter, remember and are changed.
I'm afraid in our culture of text messaging, email, voice mail, media saturation, etc., we have lost the art of true dialogue.....actually conversing and listening to each other. We experienced this when our son Matthew was unable to use the phone or email during the 12 weeks when he was in Marine boot camp. Instead, the few letters we received were wept and prayed over. His letters became treasures.
Our monthly Worship at the River meetings are not "lecture-style" gatherings, but our desire is to encounter Jesus....much like the Emmas road travelers. Join us on the road this March 9th at 6pm in Troutdale. Join us!
We, who are called the "Church" are in transition. We are privileged to live in one of the most pivotal times in history. Never have I felt the need to in greater ways, support and pray for one other during this season. Please let us know how to pray for you. It is Carlene's and my desire to "knit" ourselves together for Kingdom purpose. We are Living Stones, placed together by the Master Builder. I love how the Building is shaping up.
On another note, Carlene and I are looking forward to several important events which, I believe, may set a course for the future for us. I am asking if you would listen and pray for specific events on our upcoming calender:
March 6-7
Worship in partnership with meetings with Plumbline Ministries. This
is our third trip to Vantage WA, this time I am teaching a One Day
Intensive on Saturday for worshippers as well as facilitating worship
and prayer before and after the Plumbline sessions.
March 22-April 5
During this second trip to Korea this year, (it seems as if I just got
home from the last one....wait a minute...I did) I will continue to
build relationships with churches, worship and intercession groups,
and YWAM training.
April 13-14
Meetings with Jim and Faith Chosa I believe First Nation leaders such as Jim and Faith are strategically positioned as Esther, with wisdom for such a time as this.
While in Korea this past month, I spent many hours prayer-walking the streets of Seoul. (you may still experience this as I documented this pictures and sound at http://pacificministries.blogspot.com/) Not only did it serve as my major exercise time, but these hours evolved into a kind of sanctuary experience....where I learned to listen deeply to what the Lord was speaking to me...just for that time and place. It is always difficult to "re-enter" the States. We are so preoccupied with effeciency, yet spend hours in the pursuit of mind-numbing entertainment. "Pray without ceasing"...and "being content in all things" were major themes during this trip, and yet I struggle to practice the same here, in familiar territory.Bless you.....and see you at the River this Sunday, March 9th at 6pm.
